Lesley Hardman
Principal Physiotherapist

Dip Physiotherapy, Sydney

Lesley Hardman graduated from Sydney University.  She has focused her private practice career on staying abreast of advances in treatment techniques.  Lesley has established a loyal following in the Shire in her successful clinics, previously in Engadine and now Caringbah. 

Her extensive experience has seen her involved in the Sydney Olympics & lecturing in workplace ergonomics.

Lesley has a special interest in treatment of acute and chronic back and neck pain, as well as foot & ankle problems.

She assesses and prescribes soft orthotics as well as providing treatment for specific dance-related problems, assessment of dancer’s technical difficulties and all pre-pointe and tertiary level screening.

Julie McCarthy
Principal Physiotherapist

B App Sc (Phty) Sydney 1984

Following graduation Julie lived and worked in London and Canada where she undertook further study and developed her skills in biomechanical analysis and treatment.

Julie has worked in private practice in the Shire for the last 23 years where she had been the team physiotherapist for St George AFL Club, Sutherland Sharks Soccer Club and U21's NSW State Netball teams.

Julie has developed a keen interest in treating the 'whole body' as she believes that all systems including muscular, nervous and visceral must work together for a healthy body. To this end she has trained in craniosacral techniques and visceral mobilisation.

Julie is happy to help you with any musculoskeletal problems, but has a special interest in headaches, neck and back pain and TMJ (jaw) dysfunction.

Trish Cooper
Physiotherapist

B App Sc (Phty) Sydney 1987

Trish graduated from Sydney University in 1987 and has focused her career in private practice in the Sutherland Shire for 25 years.

Trish has qualifications in Women's Health physiotherapy.  This covers the assessment and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction (including incontinence, prolapse and defecation disorders), birth related pelvic floor trauma and postnatal or pregnancy related musculoskeletal problems.

Trish is a qualified lymphoedema therapist and is accredited with the Australasian Lymphoedema Association. 

Trish uses biomechanical analysis, muscle energy and McKenzie techniques to provide effective treatment.  She also makes soft orthotics and provides home visits.   Trish enjoys treating patients of all ages with musculoskeletal problems.

Louise Richardson
Physiotherapist / Exercise Physiologist

B Sc (Ex Sc), Grad Dip Sc (Ex Rehab), M Phty

After qualifying as an exercise physiologist Louise completed a Masters Degree in Physiotherapy.

Louise's dual qualification enables her to effectively combine physiotherapy treatment, including McKenzie and muscle energy techniques, with effective exercise prescription to achieve the best outcomes for her patients. 

Louise is an accredited Lymphoedema therapist and is accredited with the Australasian Lymphoedema Association.   She treats all musculoskeletal injuries, and has a special interest in sports injuries.

Nikki Scott

 Nikki is a physiotherapist, exercise physiologist and Cert IV Pilates matwork instructor.  She completed Sydney University with a Masters of Physiotherapy in 2006 and has worked both in private practice and the hospital environment.

Lara Samuelsson
Physiotherapist / Exercise Physiologist

B Sc (Ex Sc), M Phty

Lara graduated from Sydney University with a Masters of Physiotherapy after graduating from Wollongong University with a Bachelor of Exercise Science. 

She has further training in Pilates and McKenzie exercises which ensures she can provide you with an exercise programme or rehabilitation programme which has been tailored to your specific needs. Lara also has an interest in dry needling. Lara has also undergone instruction with the American School of Ballet and has a keen interest in dance injuries and rehabilitation. 

Lara is a member of the APA (Australian Physiotherapy Association) and ESSA (Exercise and Sports Science Australia).

Steve CUNNINGHAM

Physiotherapist

Steve joins our team as a co-owner, Hardman & McCarthy having been purchased by The Healthy Body Company. 

Steve is a physiotherapist with over 20 years experience, and is a long time Shire resident. He has been the Practice Principal of The Healthy Body Company in Penrith since 1998. 

Steve has a close association with NSW Touch Football Assoc. and the Australian Touch Football Association and has travelled extensively both nationally and internationally with elite teams.  However he prides himself on treating every one of his patients with the same level of care and attention and many people have benefited from his superior diagnostic and injury management abilities. 

Steve works as a mentor for young physiotherapists who are motivated to develop excellent diagnostic skills, and are passionate about the profession. 

When he is not working Steve enjoys spending time with his family, including his four young sons. 

Steve is an excellent diagnostician and treats a range of musculoskeletal conditions including:

  • headaches
  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) or dizziness
  • sporting injuries
  • children
  • TMJ or jaw pain
  • hand injuries.

Steve is able to apply casts and make splints.
