FAQ's

DO I NEED A REFERRAL?

A doctor's referral is not required unless treatment is to be covered by worker's compensation patients, CTP or Veteran's Affairs.

HOW LONG DOES A PHYSIOTHERAPY VISIT TAKE?

We ask that you allow 60 minutes for the initial treatment and 45-60 minutes for the subsequent treatments, depending on the complexity of your condition.

CAN I CLAIM A REBATE FROM MY PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE?

For your convenience we have Hicaps to enable you to claim your rebate on the spot so you only pay the gap amount.  Most policies with Extras cover will receive a rebate.  This rebate varies with different levels of cover.   Your insurance company will advise you of your entitlements.

WHAT TYPE OF CLOTHING SHOULD I WEAR?

We ask that you wear clothing that allows the physiotherapist to access the area for which you are seeking treatment, i.e. shorts/T shirts etc.   We have gowns and shorts available at the practice.

WHAT DOES 'WOMEN'S HEALTH' REFER TO?

Our physiotherapist Trish Cooper has undertaken training in women's health physiotherapy which involves the re-training of muscles involved with the bladder, bowel and pelvic organs.  Treatment can prevent problems such as bladder leakage (incontinence), prolapse, pelvic floor and sexual pain, pregnancy and post natal conditions. We have a Real Time Ultrasound machine available at our practice.  This allows the physiotherapist to "see" how you are turning on your core muscles and demonstrate the correct way to do so for you.

WHAT DOES LYMPHOEDEMA MEAN?

Lymphoedema is lymphatic obstruction.  It is a long-term condition in which excess fluid accumulates in the tissues causing swelling.  This frequently affects a limb (arm or leg) when a lymph node has been removed following surgery.   Our physiotherapists Louise Richardson and Trish Cooper have undertaken training in lymphoedema treatment and can address this problem with specific massage and bandaging (if necessary).  We can also organise specific garments that are worn to address the issue if required.
